Hi,

I am originally from Melbourne, Australia and for the last 6 years I have been living in Helsinki, Finland. Recently I graduated from Laurea University of Applied Sciences with a Bachelor of Social Services (Sosionomi). As part of the degree I took some intensive studies in the field of early childhood education and care and have worked as a kindergarten teacher here in Finland. Back in Australia, I studied music at Monash University, Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE and Box Hill TAFE. I have taught both guitar and bass guitar both privately and in schools for about 15 years. Ukulele is a new addition to the arsenal which I started playing about a year after moving to Helsinki and it quickly became a new favourite. I have experience teaching music to people of all ages and wide ranges of playing ability. I also have extensive experience teaching music to young children.

I started playing guitar when I was about 15 years old. Initially I was drawn to playing guitar because my older brother had started to play. As my musical tastes continued to develop, I started playing a wide variety of music, mostly with friends during long acoustic, sing-a-long jams. Before I left Melbourne to come and live in Finland I played guitar and sang backing vocals in rock band RPG Radio. I also played bass guitar with The Alana Bruce Band and folk band Tinpan Orange.

I enjoy teaching my students the music that they enjoy and gives them inspiration. I also like to introduce them to new material that I believe will benefit their playing and musicianship. Whether you are just starting out or have already been playing for some time I will do my best to provide you with an enjoyable and fruitful learning experience.

Cheers,

Gidon
