Skype Lessons

I offer online video-chat music lessons via Skype which may be the best option for you if you're unable to find a suitable teacher locally or can't find a teacher that can fit in to your schedule. All you need is an instrument, a high speed internet connection, a computer (desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone) with a web camera and Skype account. Skype is free and can be downloaded here. My main goal is to provide an enjoyable learning experience while giving you the necessary guidance to help you play the music that you want to play. The learning environment is relaxed, supportive and the lessons are tailored to your specific needs.

Many of the students I have had began learning via online videos and most had minimal success as, while the lessons may have been very good, they were unable to receive direct instruction on their own playing - a crucial aspect of development when learning how to play. This is possibly the most important element a teacher can give to a student and I am able to provide you with concise and supportive instruction of your own playing.

For new students there are sometimes concerns over the ability to read standard musical notation. The ability to read standard musical notation is certainly helpful but not necessary in order for us to have music lessons or for you to be a great musician ;-). Another concern, especially with online video-chat lessons, is the ability to get your instrument in tune. Not to worry, if you are unable to tune your instrument yet we can start with a lesson on tuning.

If you have any more questions please don't hesitate to contact me.

P.S. If you live in Helsinki, Finland I am able to give you lessons in person.
